Missouri Rice Field Day Set For August 23

POPLAR BLUFF, MISSOURI

   The Missouri Rice Research and Merchandising Council will host its annual Rice Field Day on Tuesday, August 23 at the Missouri Rice Research Farm near Glennonville.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

   Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and tours begin at 8:30 a.m. Research personnel and experts will be on hand to provide area farmers a chance to see and learn about recent developments in rice research. Speakers include:

• Dr. Nick Bateman, Entomologist, University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture;

• Dr. Justin Calhoun, Soil and Cropping Systems Extension Specialist, University of Missouri Extension;

• Dr. Justin Chlapecka, State Rice Extension Specialist, University of Missouri Extension;

• Dr. Chase Floyd, Crop Protection Specialist with University of Missouri Extension; and

• Jim Heiser, Senior Research Associate - Weed Science, University of Missouri Extension.

   The Field Day will conclude with a noon luncheon catered by Tasteful Creations. The lunch program will include Senator Jason Bean (R-25) and Davin Althoff, Missouri Farm Bureau Director of Marketing and Commodities.
