FFA MEMBERS RECEIVE TWRA FISHING LICENSES AND ENGAGE WITH TENNESSEE WILDLIFE FEDERATION AT SUMMER CAMP

DOYLE, TENNESSEE

For the third year, Tennessee Future Farmers of America (FFA) Camp Clements has partnered with the Tennessee Wildlife Federation (TWF) to provide students with a chance to learn about the state’s environmental and natural resources conservation, fishing opportunities, and gun safety. In addition, the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) partnered with the TWF to provide all camp attendees with a free fishing license.

Each summer, FFA members have the opportunity to attend Tennessee FFA Leadership Training Camp at Camp Clements, the state's only FFA camp and nation’s oldest.

During a visit to camp, Jeb Beasley with the TWF Hunting and Fishing Academy provided a further breakdown of the TWF’s role at camp. “During our time here at camp the big things we try to accomplish are: to help source volunteers who are certified hunter safety education instructors and vetted by our program to help supervise and run the rifle range; teach the environmental class where we try to include some type of hands-on experience, such as knot tying and casting demonstrations or deer antler-scoring activities; and help teach basic hunting and fishing safety skills during the free time students have,” explained Beasley.

The Tennessee FFA Association is comprised of over 32,000 members from all 95 counties. Each summer, students gain skills taught through a variety of leadership classes, agricultural experience classes, and citizenship classes.
