Dixon Springs Ag Center To Host Beef Field Day

Illinois Extension and the University of Illinois Department of Animal Sciences are pleased to announce the annual Beef Field Day at Dixon Springs Agricultural Center will be on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. The program will feature Dr. Nevil Speer from Turkey Track Consulting discussing how global and domestic cattle markets impact Illinois producers’ bottom line. 

Other topics to be presented this year include hay storage methods, an update on the ongoing research at DSAC, an introduction to the I-Belief program participants, and discussion on alternative forages/stretching hay supply. 

Presenters include: 

  • Dr. Nevil Speer, Turkey Track Consulting
  • Dr. Teresa Steckler, Extension Beef Cattle Specialist
  • Travis Meteer, Extension Beef Cattle Specialist
  • Dr. Josh McCann, Department of Animal Sciences, and the I-Belief Interns 
  • Dr. Dan Shike, Department of Animal Sciences

The program will start promptly at 5:15 p.m. and will conclude with a prepared by the Shawnee Beef Association. There is no charge to attend the Beef Field Day; dinners cost is $10 per person and for an accurate food count please pre-register by Monday, July 24.
