Louisiana Forage Conference Set For December 1 In Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, LOUISIANA

Each December, forage producers from around the Gulf South Region meet to hear professionals speak on topics that help their bottom line.

This year’s meeting will be held at the Hurricane Evacuation Center, located at the south end of the LSU-A campus. The campus is located south of Alexandria off Highway 71.

This annual conference is being sponsored by the Louisiana Forage and Grassland Council and the Louisiana Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative.

LSU AgCenter forage specialist Ed Twidwell said presentations will be made on topics such as soil carbon management, beef cattle research and soil carbon contract considerations.

“There also will be panel discussions on baleage production and carbon sequestration contracts,” he said.

Registration and viewing of commercial exhibits will begin at 8:15 a.m.The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 2:30 p.m.

Twidwell said the registration fee is $25, and the pre-registration application can be completed at https://www.louisianaglci.org/registration. 

Cash, check or credit card payments can be made at the conference, he said.

A catered lunch will be served at noon.
