Compared to last week, steers weighing 550-750 lbs sold 5.00-15.00 higher, with all other weights of steers trading with a firm to higher undertone on a light test. Feeder heifers all sold fully steady on a light test, with the 5 weights selling with a higher undertone and 3 pot loads of 1050-1180 lb heifers trading with good demand on a higher undertone. A snowy day here at EMC didn't affect the market as demand was good with overall quality good on the calves and yearlings all sold on and active market. Several stick out sales included 83 head of Large Frame heifers weighing 1180 lbs selling at 217.75 and a pot load of heifers weighing 1054 lbs at 221.25. Slaughter steers and heifers sold 5.00-7.00 higher with a light offering of slaughter cows trading steady to firm. Supply included: 88% Feeder Cattle (48% Steers, 48% Heifers, 4% Bulls); 12% Slaughter Cattle (44% Steers, 12% Heifers, 40% Cows, 3% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 70%.

Compared to last sale: Feeder steers and steer calves 2.00-6.00 higher. Feeder heifers 3.00-4.00 higher. Heifer calves 2.00-7.00 higher. Feeders and calves saw instances of up to 15.00 higher in spots. Demand good. Quality and weigh-up conditions were much better compared to last sale. Feeder cattle are trading in the green for Monday. The first strong cold front of the season came through on Sunday with temperatures dropping into the single digits. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (59% Steers, 40% Heifers, 1% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 54%.
