SEMO Livestock Sales LLC

JANUARY 14, 2025 • Fruitland, Mo.

Receipts: 618; Last Week: 668; Year Ago: 0

No recent comparison available as the last sale was a month ago, prior to the Christmas holiday. The market was without question extremely higher on all classes of cattle. There was a lot of catch up to be done to get back in line with where current price levels are and that is exactly what occurred today. If one had not been aware of how strong the cattle markets have gotten, the difference between the last sale and today might cause one to question their sanity. The supply was moderate, likely some producers were still unable to trailers out of some areas following last week's winter weather and prevented the offering from being larger. Demand was good to very good. Weaning and true health programs, which include a knife and more than just backleg and wormer, are much desired by buyers and producers continue to be rewarded for good management. Supply included: 83% Feeder Cattle (54% Steers, 41% Heifers, 5% Bulls); 15% Slaughter Cattle (81% Cows, 19% Bulls); 2% Replacement Cattle (90% Bred Cows, 10% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 45%.
