Friday's auction had a very light run of feeders, with several small consignments of bred cows and pairs. One consignment of pairs mostly 7 yrs to short solid mouth bred back 1st stage with 350-400 lb calves sold with good demand from 3650.00-3850.00 per pair. A nice offering of slaughter steers and heifers sold firm to 3.00 higher and slaughter cows on a good offering sold mostly 4.00-8.00 higher. Supply included: 26% Feeder Cattle (36% Steers, 59% Heifers, 5% Bulls); 47% Slaughter Cattle (17% Steers, 24% Heifers, 53% Cows, 6% Bulls); 27% Replacement Cattle (72% Bred Cows, 8% Bred Heifers, 20% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 78%.

Compared to last week: All classes of feeder cattle and calves were too lightly tested but a steady to firm undertone was noted. Demand good on limited receipts due to expected winter weather. A strong winter storm is in the forecast for the rest of the week. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (57% Steers, 41% Heifers, 2% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 75%.

Slaughter steers and heifers traded 2.00 higher on high choice and 1.00 higher on low choice and selects. Holstein steers traded 2.00 higher on high choice and steady on low choice and selects. Feeder steers & heifers were steady on the better quality on medium-large 1-2 (Market quotes are on mostly unvaccinated cattle)and unevenly steady on lower quality offering medium-short 2-3. Slaughter cows traded 5.00-10.00 higher on better overnight cows with good lean cows trading 4.00 higher and 2.00 higher on slower cows. Slaughter bulls traded steady to 5.00 higher.
