Compared to the last special two weeks ago, a much lighter test (last special over 3000) with steer calves on a light test selling with a firm to higher undertone, over 650 lbs sold steady to firm on comparable sales. Feeder heifers sold fully steady to firm. Slaughter steers and heifers traded steady with slaughter cows selling steady to 3.00 higher. Demand was good on a moderate supply with more new crop calves coming to market. Largest draft sold was a pot load of heifers weighing 737 lbs at 271.00 and a part load of steers weighing 704 lbs at 324.00. Supply included: 81% Feeder Cattle (43% Steers, 49% Heifers, 8% Bulls); 19% Slaughter Cattle (12% Steers, 5% Heifers, 74% Cows, 9% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 58%.

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and steer calves 4.00-8.00 higher, 600-700 lbs to 15.00 higher. Feeder heifers 3.00-10.00 higher. Heifer calves 5.00-12.00 higher. Demand very good for all classes. A very bullish Cattle On Feed report last Friday, had cattle futures trading in the green early, but only to end the day in the red. Quality average, few attractive. Very dry, windy conditions continue but rain is in the forecast for midweek. Southern parts of the state expected to see most of this moisture. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (51% Steers, 47% Heifers, 2% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 70%.

Holstein steers traded 1.00 higher on high choice and 1.00 higher on low choice and selects. Feeder steers & heifers were very strong on the better quality on medium-large 1-2 (Market quotes are on mostly unvaccinated cattle)and higher on lower quality offering medium-short 2-3. Slaughter cows traded unevenly steady on better overnight cows with good lean cows trading 2.00 higher and 2.00 higher on slower cows. Slaughter bulls traded steady to 5.00 higher.
