Compared to the last special three weeks ago, a light test of 500-550 lb steers and 700-800 lb steers sold 10.00-20.00 higher, with all other weights of steers selling with a firm to higher undertone. Heifer calves under 600 lbs were lightly tested but trading with a firm undertone with several part loads and pot loads of yearling heifers over 700 lbs selling with a higher undertone, especially the 1000-1077 lb heifers selling with a sharply higher undertone. Demand was good on a moderate offering, with the stick out sales being the 93 hd of 1077 lb heifers at 250.75, with 40 hd weighing 1005 lbs also at 250.75. Slaughter steers and heifers sold steady to 1.00 higher with slaughter cows trading steady to firm. Supply included: 86% Feeder Cattle (39% Steers, 59% Heifers, 2% Bulls); 14% Slaughter Cattle (11% Steers, 6% Heifers, 73% Cows, 9% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 72%.

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 5.00-10.00 higher. Steer and heifer calves lightly tested and mostly steady. Demand very good with active trade. Heavy rains in the past week is making it difficult to move cattle. These rains are also hampering wheat harvest. Cattle futures closed higher again on Monday after the strong bull market last week. Cash slaughter cattle prices continue to out perform Live Cattle futures. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (55% Steers, 41% Heifers, 2% Bulls, 1% Dairy/Beef Steers, 0% Dairy/Beef Heifers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 76%.
