Friday's auction was a Special Bred Cow/Heifer sale with the highlight being near 65 head of top quality blk bred heifers in the 2nd and 3rd stage with half of them being AI bred selling with good demand. The rest of the replacement bred cows were mostly 5 yrs to short solid mouth in the 3rd stage selling with moderate to good demand, along with several pairs in the mix. feeder cattle were very lightly tested selling in small packages and singles. Slaughter steers and heifers sold steady to 1.00 lower with slaughter cows trading firm to 5.00 higher. The stick-out sales included the bred heifers in the 3rd stage AI bred at 3850.00-3935.00 per head, 2nd stage heifers 3400.00-3625.00 per head. Supply included: 44% Feeder Cattle (37% Steers, 47% Heifers, 16% Bulls); 30% Slaughter Cattle (21% Steers, 18% Heifers, 52% Cows, 9% Bulls); 26% Replacement Cattle (31% Bred Cows, 57% Bred Heifers, 5% Cow-Calf Pairs, 6% Heifer Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 36%.

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers mostly steady. Lesser kind or conditions playing a role to any hints of a lower market. Demand moderate to good. Steer and heifer calves 2.00-5.00 lower. Many un-weaned or short weaned calves included and with high heat and humidity demand is limited for these. Supply is mostly average and not as attractive as last week. Heavy rains continued to fall across much of the state over the weekend. Wheat harvest is off to a very slow start. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (50% Steers, 47% Heifers, 2% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 67%.

Feeder steers & heifers were stronger on the better quality on medium-large 1-2 (Market quotes are on mostly unvaccinated cattle) and higher on lower quality offering medium-short 2-3. Slaughter cows traded 2.00 higher on better overnight cows & good lean cows. Day cows traded steady & 2.00 lower on slower cows. Slaughter bulls traded steady.
