Compared to two weeks ago, feeder steers and heifers traded with a sharply higher undertone compared to the light receipts from last time. Feeder futures have once again made new all-time highs this week and the cash prices have followed right along. Each week continues to bring new eye-popping numbers with light calves now bringing per head what use to be the price for a whole finished beef. Slaughter steers and heifers steady and slaughter cows 5.00-8.00 higher. Supply included: 76% Feeder Cattle (49% Steers, 42% Heifers, 9% Bulls); 24% Slaughter Cattle (26% Steers, 8% Heifers, 59% Cows, 8% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 71%.

Compared to the last sale two weeks ago: Feeder cattle and calves lightly tested in early rounds but a definite higher undertone is noted. Cattle futures lower? Can't tell it by the demand. Demand extremely good for all classes. Rains fell again this past weekend, keeping summer pastures green. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (42% Steers, 49% Heifers, 9% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 47%.
