Compared to two weeks ago, feeder steers and heifers traded with a sharply higher undertone compared to the light receipts from last time. Feeder futures have once again made new all-time highs this week and the cash prices have followed right along. Each week continues to bring new eye-popping numbers with light calves now bringing per head what use to be the price for a whole finished beef. Slaughter steers and heifers steady and slaughter cows 5.00-8.00 higher. Supply included: 76% Feeder Cattle (49% Steers, 42% Heifers, 9% Bulls); 24% Slaughter Cattle (26% Steers, 8% Heifers, 59% Cows, 8% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 71%.

Compared to the last sale two weeks ago: Feeder cattle and calves lightly tested in early rounds but a definite higher undertone is noted. Cattle futures lower? Can't tell it by the demand.
