Compared to the last sale two weeks ago: Feeder cattle and calves lightly tested in early rounds but a definite higher undertone is noted. Cattle futures lower? Can't tell it by the demand. Demand extremely good for all classes. Rains fell again this past weekend, keeping summer pastures green. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (42% Steers, 49% Heifers, 9% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 47%. Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 4.00-10.00 higher. Steer calves 10.00-20.00 higher, spots sharply higher. Heifer calves under 500 lbs unevenly steady; over 500 lbs 8.00-12.00 higher. Demand continues very good for all classes. Monday's run was very similar to a fall calf run with many un-weaned calves were included. The USDA released it's monthly Cattle on Feed report last Friday. The On Feed number dipped below 11 million head to 10.9 million, this the first time since it was 10.8 million September of 2017. Quality mostly average. An unseasonable cold front is making it's way through the state bringing some much needed rain to some areas. Temps will also cool back to the 70's and 80's for the next several days. Weigh-ups are running gaunt to average. Quality mostly average. Please note: Cattle marked as Un-Weaned are weaned less than 45 days or are right off the cow. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (53% Steers, 43% Heifers, 4% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 61%.
