Friday's auction had several consignments of bred heifers (coming with their 2nd calf) 2-4 yrs mostly in the 2nd stage along with several pairs 3-5 yrs with big calves by side 400 lbs bred back in 1st and 2nd stage all selling with good demand. Feeder calves were lightly tested selling mostly as singles and small packages. Slaughter cows traded 3.00-5.00 lower. Stick out sales on the bred heifers included one lot heifers weighing 1135 lbs 2nd stage 4550.00 and young pairs 3-5 yrs bred back 1st and 2nd stage w/400-425 lb calves 4850.00-5400.00 per pair. Supply included: 53% Feeder Cattle (36% Steers, 43% Heifers, 21% Bulls); 34% Slaughter Cattle (13% Steers, 3% Heifers, 58% Cows, 27% Bulls); 13% Replacement Cattle (18% Bred Cows, 37% Bred Heifers, 33% Cow-Calf Pairs, 12% Heifer Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 31%.

Compared to last week: Feeder steers generally steady in a light test. Feeder heifers 2.00-6.00 lower. Demand moderate to good for feeder cattle as cattle futures have gained back and more from last Friday's losses. On the other hand, steer and heifer calves 10.00-20.00 lower with un-weaned calves sharply lower and some up to 40.00 lower. Several un-weaned calves included in supply. Calves not finding friends as many farmers are busy in the fields planting wheat. Quality plain to average. Fall is starting this week but temps are feeling more like summer. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (53% Steers, 42% Heifers, 6% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 52%.
