Compared to the last special two weeks ago, steer calves under 550 lbs on a light offering sold with a firm to higher undertone, with 550-600 lbs steers trading 5.00-10.00 higher with 6 weight steers fully steady. Heifer calves were lightly tested and sold mostly steady on a light offering with 95 hd 1002 heifers selling with a higher undertone. Demand was good on a moderate offering with calves selling mostly in small groups and packages but overall quality was good. The stick out sale of the day was the 95 heifers weighing 1002 lbs dropped the gavel at 306.50. Slaughter steers and heifers and slaughter cows all sold steady to firm. Supply included: 80% Feeder Cattle (42% Steers, 48% Heifers, 10% Bulls); 20% Slaughter Cattle (41% Steers, 54% Cows, 5% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 53%.

Compared to last week: Feeder steers mostly steady. Feeder heifers over 700 lbs steady to 4.00 higher; under 700 lbs 1.00-4.00 lower. Steer calves 10.00-20.00 higher. Heifer calves mostly steady. Demand good for all classes. Quality plain thru attractive. Few more yearling type cattle included. Weather remains warm and dry, though a cool front is headed this way this evening and will drop tomorrow's highs back into the mid 70's. This will be short-lived as we will be back to 90 by the weekend. It is October and we are back on the weather roller coaster. Much of Oklahoma is in need of some rain to sow wheat. The Bull run seemed to come to an end with the month of September. The Live cattle and Feeder cattle contracts lost 10.00 and 6.00 respectively. Boxed Beef being the big loser with an average loss of 45.00. Markets moved higher Friday and again on Monday. We will see where the rest of the week takes us. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (51% Steers, 45% Heifers, 4% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 61%.
