Compared to the last special two weeks ago, steer and heifer calves under 650 lbs sold with a sharply higher undertone with over 650 lbs selling with a higher undertone as quality and numbers was much better on calves and yearlings were overall lightly tested, but overall a good quality offering. Demand was good on a moderate supply. Slaughter steers and heifers on a good offering sold 3.00-6.00 higher as Fed Cattle market moved higher this week. Slaughter cows sold fully steady to firm. Supply included: 76% Feeder Cattle (55% Steers, 44% Heifers, 1% Bulls); 24% Slaughter Cattle (36% Steers, 8% Heifers, 52% Cows, 4% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 61%.

Compared to last week's light test: Feeder steers 8.00-15.00 higher. Feeder heifers 15.00-25.00 higher. Steer and heifer calves 20.00-30.00 higher, instance to 40.00 higher. Demand good following a pre and post Thanksgving move higher in the cattle complex at the CME. Though futures continued to trade some lower Monday, demand was good for all classes. Icy start to the day with light freezing rain and drizzle Sunday night causing major traffic problems Monday morning. Temperatures to held in the 30's through-out the day. Quality average to attractive. Supply included several cattle in a Special Angus sale. These cattle were at least 60 days weaned with multiple rounds of shots, were Angus verified and some BQA (Beef Quality Assurance) as well. These cattle are marked as Value Added in the report. Several nice strings of cattle. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (63% Steers, 0% Dairy Steers, 35% Heifers, 1% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 55%.

Slaughter steers and heifers traded 4.00-5.00 lower on high choice and 4.00 lower on low choice and selects. Holstein steers traded steady  to 3.00 higher on high choice and 1.00 higher on low choice and selects.  Feeder steers & heifers traded weak on limited numbers on the better quality on medium-large 1-2 (Market quotes are on mostly unvaccinated cattle) and  lower on unweaned medium-short 2-3. Slaughter cows traded 2.00 higher to 3.00 higher on better overnight cows & good lean cows.  Day cows traded unevenly steady & 3.00 higher on slower cows. Slaughter bulls traded steady to 2.00 higher.
