Friday's auction was a Special Bred Cow sale with a consignment of good quality young bred cows in the 3rd stage 3-5 yrs of age selling form 3950.00-4250.00 and a consignment of bred heifers in the 3rd stage selling at 4050.00. The balance were mostly bred cows 5 yrs to short solid mouth mostly in the 3rd stage. Feeder cattle were lightly tested selling in small packages and groups. Slaughter steers and heifers along with a large consignment of slaughter cows all sold fully steady. Supply included: 45% Feeder Cattle (54% Steers, 31% Heifers, 16% Bulls); 36% Slaughter Cattle (11% Steers, 14% Heifers, 62% Cows, 13% Bulls); 19% Replacement Cattle (66% Bred Cows, 21% Bred Heifers, 13% Cow- Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 47%.

Compared to last week: Feeder steers mostly steady to 2.00 lower. Feeder heifers steady to 4.00 higher. Steer calves 8.00-12.00 higher. Heifer calves mostly steady. Several fancy type cattle included and these up to 15.00 higher conservatively. Some of these fancier cattle seem like priceless artifacts, and buyers were very eager to have them. Demand is very good for all classes after a slow start. Quality improved throughout the day, and average to many attractive. Several large groups of lighter weight cattle were available. Rains moved across parts of the state late last week, but it was a quick system, and if you were lucky, you might have gotten an inch. Most received less than half an inch. Much of the state still has a big need for rain. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (60% Steers, 38% Heifers, 2% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 62%.
