Friday's auction was Special Bred Cow/Pairs sale with the highlight being 20 hd of good quality 1st calf heifer pairs originating out of Montana with baby calves by side selling with good demand from 5800.00-6025.00 per pair. Balance of the replacement cows were several small groups of bred cows mostly 5 yrs to short solid mouth in the 2nd and 3rd stage and several groups of running aged cows 6 yrs to short solid mouth with baby calves to 350 lb calves by side all selling with good demand. Feeder supply was lightly tested with small groups and singles all selling within last week's price ranges on comparable quality and weights. Slaughter steers and heifers were steady with slaughter cows trading steady to firm with spots 3.00 higher on the high dressing cows. Supply included: 50% Feeder Cattle (28% Steers, 40% Heifers, 33% Bulls); 27% Slaughter Cattle (15% Steers, 9% Heifers, 62% Cows, 13% Bulls); 22% Replacement Cattle (21% Bred Cows, 7% Bred Heifers, 43% Cow-Calf Pairs, 29% Heifer Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 32%.

Buyers a little more selective for kind and conditions. Trade from northern accounts remained active. Quality mostly average. few attractive. Commodity futures closed Monday for the Presidents Day Holiday. Rain fell in parts of the state over the weekend but expected high winds this week will dry pastures out quickly. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (55% Steers, 44% Heifers, 2% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 65%.
