Compared to the last special two weeks ago, steer calves under 600 lbs sold with a higher undertone on few comparable sales, 600-800 lbs sold 5.00-15.00 higher, spots 20.00 higher and over 800 lbs sold with a higher undertone on limited comparisons. Heifer calves weighing 400- 450 lbs sold with a higher undertone, 450-600 lbs traded 5.00-15.00 higher and over 600 lbs sold with a steady to firm undertone. Demand was good on a moderate supply, with a lot of the calves selling in small packages and groups. Large gains in the CME Feeder Cattle contracts on Friday with the front four months sharply higher from 6.37 to 8.07. Slaughter cattle sold mostly steady with a nice offering of slaughter cows selling firm to 6.00 higher. Supply included: 86% Feeder Cattle (48% Steers, 44% Heifers, 8% Bulls); 14% Slaughter Cattle (22% Steers, 2% Heifers, 67% Cows, 9% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 42%.

Compared to last week: Feeder steers mostly steady. Steer calves 5.00-15.00 higher. Feeder heifers and heifer calves steady to 5.00 higher. Grazing type steers and heifers sold up to 25.00 higher. Demand good for all classes, especially lighter weights and or thinner fleshed cattle. When it comes to stockers or lighter weights it is a gotta have'em type attitude, regardless of the very dry conditions from Central Oklahoma and West. Quality mostly average, few attractive. Temperatures reached near 100 in parts of the state over the weekend and to add to it high winds again with very little humidity. Many fires were reported across the state on Sunday. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (55% Steers, 0% Dairy Steers, 42% Heifers, 2% Bulls, 0% Beef/Dairy Steers). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 68%.
