Friday's auction was a Special Bred Cow and Pairs sale with a nice offering of young bred cows mostly 3-5 yrs in the second stage all selling with good demand. Also included in the sale were several consignments of nice quality 1st calf heifer pairs in the offering with 100-125 lb calves selling with good demand from 5675.00-6100.00 per pair. Feeder cattle were lightly tested selling in small groups and singles but traded in last week's price ranges on similar quality and weights. Slaughter steers and heifers traded mostly steady with slaughter cows on a large offering trading mostly 2.00-4.00 lower. Supply included: 34% Feeder Cattle (32% Steers, 3% Dairy Steers, 44% Heifers, 21% Bulls); 22% Slaughter Cattle (8% Steers, 6% Heifers, 73% Cows, 13% Bulls); 43% Replacement Cattle (61% Bred Cows, 5% Bred Heifers, 7% Cow-Calf Pairs, 27% Heifer Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 29%.

Compared to last week. steers and heifers sold uneven, from 11.00 lower to 11.00 higher. Slaughter cows sold steady and bulls sold 3.00 higher; Demand uneven and supply moderate. They have some replacement cows dispersal sales totaling 74 head. Supply included: 59% Feeder Cattle (24% Steers, 44% Heifers, 32% Bulls); 29% Slaughter Cattle (82% Cows, 18% Bulls); 12% Replacement Cattle (69% Bred Cows, 3% Bred Heifers, 28% Cow-Calf Pairs). Compared to last week's light test: Feeder steers steady to 5.00 higher. Feeder heifers 10.00-15.00 higher. Steer and heifer calves mostly steady, except 500-600 lb heifer calves up to 25.00 higher. Demand very good for feeder cattle. Several fleshy and or full cattle included and these selling near the average or even the top of the price range of last week. Quality improved with the day and average to attractive. Slaughter cattle trade improved late last Friday with mostly 248.00, few 249.00 in Texas and Kansas and 248.00-250.00 in Nebraska. Several un-weaned calves included early in the sale. Beneficial rains fell in many areas over the weekend with more to come this week. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (54% Steers, 44% Heifers, 2% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 71%.
