Compared to the last special two weeks ago, steer calves weighing 500-800 lbs and heifer calves weighing 400-650 lbs all sold steady with the last special, heifers over 700 lbs were lightly tested with the biggest draft being 118 hd of heifers weighing 862 lbs at 324.00. Demand was good on a moderate supply with the bulk of the calves being mostly new crop fall calves carrying a little more flesh with not as much condition as last special. Slaughter steers and heifers along with slaughter cows all traded steady with last week. Supply included: 85% Feeder Cattle (45% Steers, 52% Heifers, 3% Bulls); 15% Slaughter Cattle (15% Steers, 4% Heifers, 67% Cows, 13% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 48%.

Compared to last week: Feeder steers mostly steady, 900-1000 lbs 2.00-4.00 lower. Feeder heifers 2.00-4.00 lower. Steer and heifer calves lightly tested and unevenly steady. Quality mostly average. Demand remains good but buyers a little more picky for kind. Cattle futures closed lower, following a positive move on the open. Cattle continue to trickle in off wheat pasture. Cold front came in late last week and has moved temperatures back to more spring like. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (59% Steers, 39% Heifers, 2% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 67%.
