Friday's auction at EMC had very light receipts with a few bred cows and pairs, most of the bred cows were 3yrs to short solid mouth in the 2nd stage and all sold with moderate to good demand. A very light offering of feeders were not tested. Slaughter steers and heifers on a light offering sold 12.00-14.00 lower than last week's offering as the fat cattle market has backed up 20.00 over the last two weeks. Slaughter cows traded steady to 3.00 lower. Feeder cattle special next week. Supply included: 34% Feeder Cattle (29% Steers, 44% Heifers, 27% Bulls); 43% Slaughter Cattle (13% Steers, 72% Cows, 14% Bulls); 23% Replacement Cattle (72% Bred Cows, 28% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 39%

Compared to the last full test 2 weeks ago: Feeder steers mostly steady. Feeder heifers steady to 4.00 higher. Steer calves steady to 3.00 lower. Heifer calves 2.00-5.00 higher. Demand good for all classes. Cattle futures traded some higher following a 7.00 loss in cash slaughter cattle trade last week. Quality mostly average with several cattle coming off grass. Rains moved across some of the state over the weekend but summer's heat is upon us. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (68% Steers, 31% Heifers, 1% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 73%.
