Friday's auction had a light offering of feeder calves mostly unweaned steers and bulls all selling though with good demand. Selling mostly in small packages and singles. Several small consignments of bred cows mostly 5 yrs to short and solid mouth in the 2nd and 3rd stage all sold with good demand. Slaughter cows sold steady compared with last week's lower market. Supply included: 47% Feeder Cattle (54% Steers, 17% Heifers, 29% Bulls); 34% Slaughter Cattle (11% Steers, 2% Heifers, 69% Cows, 13% Bulls, 4% Dairy Cows); 19% Replacement Cattle (83% Bred Cows, 6% Bred Heifers, 11% Cow-Calf Pairs). Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 5.00-15.00 lower. Steer and heifer calves 10.00-20.00 lower. Demand moderate for feeder cattle. Demand light to moderate for calves as summer's heat seems relentless. The heat dome moved more to the south letting in some cooler temps and much needed rains from the Oklahoma Panhandle and eastward over North Central Oklahoma. Cattle futures ended the day mixed.
