Compared to last week, there has not been a good recent test on comparable weights (last week was a bred cow special) on overall kind and quality with feeder cattle trading with a lower undertone as feeder market has seen sharp declines over the last several weeks. Fed cattle market continues to see lower trade with this week's trade ranging from 218.00-222.00 mostly 5.00-7.00 lower this week. There were several good groups of good quality calves in Friday's offering with 19 hd of steers weighing 506 lbs at 442.50, 27 hd of 648 lbs steers at 380.00 and a group of heifer calves weighing 452 lbs at 420.00. Slaughter cows sold mostly 5.00-8.00 lower. Supply included: 79% Feeder Cattle (49% Steers, 44% Heifers, 6% Bulls); 21% Slaughter Cattle (20% Steers, 11% Heifers, 54% Cows, 15% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 44%.

Compared to last week: Feeder steers 4.00-10.00 lower, instance to 15.00 lower over 900 lbs. Feeder heifers 2.00-8.00 lower. Steer and heifer calves 5.00-15.00 lower. Demand moderate as buyers a little more selective for kind and condition. Cattle futures opened mostly in the green, only to close sharply lower. This following a fairly bullish Cattle on Feed report showing the lowest placements and marketing for the month of July since the series began. Quality average. Hot dry conditions continue for the western half of the state, while the eastern half enjoyed rains and some not so hot temperatures. Mid week temps expected to drop just below the 100 degree mark with some slight chances of rain. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (66% Steers, 31% Heifers, 3% Bulls).
