The National Agricultural Law Center will host a webinar on Sept. 16 examining significant changes to federal farm programs and agricultural taxation resulting from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
The webinar, “2026 Update: USDA’s Payment Limitations, Eligibility, & Ag Tax Considerations,” will take place from noon to 1 p.m. ET (11 a.m. to noon CT) and will provide producers, agricultural professionals, farm advisors and others with an overview of recent changes affecting agricultural operations.
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act introduced substantial changes to U.S. Department of Agriculture farm program rules, including revised payment limitations and eligibility requirements, as well as broad changes to federal tax law. USDA subsequently issued new regulations to implement the law’s payment limitation and eligibility provisions, while also making additional changes intended to modernize and improve program administration.
The webinar will focus on the practical implications of these changes and how they may affect farmers, ranchers, agricultural businesses and the professionals who advise them. The presentation will also examine potential unintended consequences of the new rules for agricultural producers and ag operations.
Grant Ballard, partner at Ark Ag Law, PLLC, and Kristine Tidgren, director of Iowa State University’s Center for Agricultural Law and Taxation, will lead the discussion. Ballard’s practice focuses on federal farm programs, crop insurance litigation, contracts, environmental law and governmental compliance. Tidgren specializes in agricultural taxation and regularly provides legal and tax education to producers and agricultural professionals.
“The changes to federal farm programs and tax law are significant, and it’s an area that a lot of folks have asked us about,” said Harrison Pittman, director of the National Agricultural Law Center. “We are excited to host Grant and Kristine to provide timely information and practical insight on these law changes as agricultural producers navigate the new system.”
Additional information and registration are available through the National Agricultural Law Center's webinar page. ∆
