Registration Open For 2013 AGMasters Conference

URBANA, ILL.
    Online registration is now open for the 2013 AGMasters Conference scheduled for Dec. 2 and 3 at the iHotel and Conference Center, Champaign, Ill.
    The 5th annual conference, hosted by the University of Illinois Extension, will begin with a general session featuring five speakers who will cover a broad range of topics related to agricultural production and the environment.
    Following the opening session, participants will be able to select 8 out of 16 specialized workshop topics. The workshops will provide research-based information on a wide variety of timely subjects including:
    • Management of troublesome weed species
    • Nitrogen management
    • Cover crops
    • Sudden death syndrome
    • Agricultural drainage systems
    • Bt resistance
    • Managing soybean insect pests
    • Herbicide carryover
    • Potassium management
    • Crop rotations and profitability
    • Glyphosate resistance
    • Examining soil properties
    • Corn mycotoxins
    “Our program committee has endeavored to create a slate of speakers and topics that will make the participant’s experience at this event relevant, interesting, and will also translate into a productive year in 2014,” said Mike Gray, a U of I professor of crop sciences.
    Leading the workshops will be speakers from Iowa State University, Michigan State University, Purdue University, Ohio State University, University of Guelph-Ridgetown, U of I, University of Kentucky, University of Minnesota, and the University of Missouri.
    Workshops are limited to 45 students and are designed to enhance as much interaction as possible with the instructors, Gray said. “One of the added benefits of this conference is the great diversity of instructors from other universities,” he said.

    Certified crop adviser (CCA) credits will be available in professional development (3.0 credits), crop management (1.0 credit), integrated pest management (10.0 credits), nutrient management (3.0 credits), and soil and water management (4.0 credits).
