   Compared to last week, 300-400 lbs steers and 300 lbs heifers sold $13-21 higher, the rest of the offering sold $5-8 higher. Slaughter cows sold $2 lower and bulls sold $2 higher. Demand good and supply light. Cows made up approximately 15 percent of the run, 85 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 32 percent of the offering, 48 percent heifers with 20 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 22 percent.

Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 23 percent.

Eastern Missouri Livestock Auction

    Compared to the last special two weeks ago, comparable sales of steer calves weighing 400-450 lbs sold $10-15 higher, 450-500 lbs and 550-600 lb steers calves traded mostly $4-10 higher with 600-650 lb steers selling $10-15 higher and steers over 650 lbs selling with a firm to higher undertone on a light test. Heifer calves weighing 400-500 lbs sold $15-20 higher on very good demand, with 500-550 lbs selling mostly $10 higher and heifers over 550 lbs were not well tested but sold with a firm to higher undertone.  Slaughter cows sold fully steady to firm. Friday’s offering included a nice selection of good quality long timed weaned calves and several loads of good quality yearlings all selling with good demand. Friday’s Cattle on Feed Report was bullish with May 1st inventory at 101 percent; placements at 95 percent and marketings at 92 percent. Inventory was significantly smaller than expected. Supply included near 12 percent cows and 4 percent slaughter cattle.  Feeder supply included 65 percent steers, 35 percent heifers and near 57 percent weighing over 600 lbs.
