   Compared to last week, a very light test of feeder cattle for this Friday with a few 550-650 steers trading steady with last week and all other weights had too few numbers to test. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady with last week. The August 1st Cattle on Feed Report appears to be neutral as Cattle on Feed was very close to expectations at 102.6 percent. Placements came in at 99 percent and Marketings at 97 percent both lighter than expected and were lowest for the month of July since the series began in 1996. Feeder supply included 65 percent steers and bulls and 35 percent heifers, with 38 percent weighing over 600 lbs. Slaughter and replacement cows accounted for near 35 percent of total receipts.

   Compared to last week, heifers under 700 lbs sold $2-13 higher, the rest of the offering sold $1-12 lower. Slaughter cows sold $3 lower and bulls sold steady; Demand uneven and supply light. Cows made up approximately 15 percent of the run, 85 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 44 percent of the offering, 43 percent heifers with 13 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 46 percent.

Cows made up approximately 16 percent of the run, 84 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 36 percent of the offering, 38 percent heifers with 26 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 20 percent.
