John And Amy Heuer Awarded The 2015 Friend Of The Farmer Award

Larry Miller, with Cape County Farm Bureau, presented the 103rd Friend
of the Farmer Award to John and Amy Heuer.

Agriculture is a living, breathing community of people across this nation who simply Love what they do for a living, whether it be in or on a tractor, working cattle, owning and operating an implement business, or even in an office.
There is something about agriculture that settles deep in your soul and even if you leave it, you will forever be impacted by your time involved in it.
The Friend of the Farmer Award nominees are nominated in our May Board Meeting. They are discussed by a members of the board and are selected by the contribution that they have made to agriculture. The board takes a vote to decide the award recipient.
The 2015 recipient is truly a friend of agriculture. They are people we know and trust. They are people who worked as our allies against HSUS, PETA, and all of the other organizations that are spider webbed into their anti-agriculture group.
During our recent fight for the “Right To Farm” Constitutional Amendment battle, this couple placed brochures in their customers statements, passed out literature at their place of business, but most importantly they helped support financially the cost of air time to play Paul Harvey’s “So God Made A Farmer” repeatedly on the C106 radio station; the only real agriculture supportive station in this area.
This couple continues the legacy of their families some 90 years in the implement business, from Grandpa Heuer selling parts out of his car in front of Woolworth, to Ms. Eva dedicating her life to keeping the family business going by always saying “You have to treat your customers’ right if you want them to come back”.
Their son, I guess doesn’t get on the pedal tractors anymore, but this son will still, hook a truck to a piece of equipment and bring it to your farm. This son and his wife are there for agriculture anytime the battle needs to be fought.
It is my honor and privilege to present the 2015 Recipients of the Friend of the Farmer Award to John and Amy Heuer.
John and Amy have been married since 1997 and in that 18 years together they have helped the Missouri Farmer to persevere in the face of our different enemies and our times of uncertainties. Yet they, as all of us hold tight to our faith, with our heads held high, and we constantly remind each other that the sun will rise again tomorrow. ∆
