Cows made up approximately 11 percent of the run, 89 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 53 percent of the offering, 35 percent heifers with 12 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 28 percent.

   Compared to last week, steer calves under 500 lbs were lightly tested but sold with a sharply lower undertone, feeder steers 500-700 lbs and feeder heifers 450-650 lbs all traded mostly $10-20 lower, spots on 500-600 lbs heifers sold $25 lower. Yearling steers over 700 lbs sold mostly $5-14 lower on comparable sales with yearling heifers lightly tested but selling with a lower undertone. Slaughter cows sold mostly $3-5 lower. Markets this week were sharply lower as cattle futures traded with sharp losses and fed cattle prices continue to trade lower pressuring feeder cattle prices. Feeder cattle buyers were very cautious and selective on quality and condition and quick to discount anything unweaned and carrying too much flesh. Slaughter cows accounted for near 12 percent of the receipts with the feeder supply near 62 percent steers, 38 percent heifers and 52 percent weighing over 600 lbs.
