Fulton Ag Conference Scheduled For Jan. 23

FULTON, MO.
The 92nd annual Soils, Crops & Livestock Producers (SC&LP) Conference on Jan. 23 offers updates from University of Missouri Extension, the Farm Service Agency and the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
The event is held on Saturday evening to allow producers time to do chores before attending.
“One of the goals of the committee is to increase the number of younger producers attending the conference,” said Heather Conrow, livestock specialist for MU Extension in Callaway County. “By moving the day to a weekend and providing activities for the kids, we hope to encourage younger families to attend. Moving the time to a weekend night also allows school-age children to attend the Future Producers Conference held in conjunction with this conference.”
The SC&LP Conference begins at 4 p.m. at Callaway Electric Cooperative, 1313 Cooperative Drive, Fulton. Central Missouri Meat and Sausage of Fulton demonstrates meat cutting at 5:30 p.m. A free buffet-style supper follows.
Trade show booths featuring Callaway County businesses and agencies open at 4 p.m. MU Extension specialists and other agency representatives will talk about swine and beef production, farm economics, and soil health at trade show booths.
The Future Producers Conference for children offers fun educational opportunities, Conrow said. MU Extension nutrition associates and 4-H youth and adult volunteers will help children make their own dinner and ice cream. There will be other activities to learn about conservation, embryology and agriculture. This event starts at 3:30 p.m. at the MU Extension Center in Callaway County, 5803 County Road 302, Fulton.
