Agriculture Site Assessment Tool New Online

MARSHFIELD, MO.
When doing farm planning, knowing the physical, cultural and environmental characteristics of your property is important according to Bob Schultheis, natural resource engineering specialist with University of Missouri Extension.
“Knowing the characteristics can help the landowner make more intelligent decisions about some things like crops to grow, where to put a pond or lagoon or whether the septic system will work,” said Schultheis.
That same information can also help determine if runoff from your property could pose a risk to others, whether structural modifications are needed for building foundations, the likelihood of flooding, or even if an endangered species of animal is present.
The new Ag Site Assessment Tool (AgSite) is a new web-based tool designed by University of Missouri Extension for educational purposes. The tool allows a landowner to enter their location, outline their property on an aerial photo and then click a button to generate a report with all the information mentioned above and more.
