UT Institute Of Agriculture To Host Cotton Focus



 Cotton Focus, hosted annually by the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture,
 will provide area producers with useful information as they plan for the 2016 cotton crop.
 The meeting takes place on Thursday, February 18, at the West Tennessee
 AgResearch and Education Center in Jackson.

JACKSON, TENN.
   The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture will host the annual Cotton Focus meeting on Thursday, February 18, at the West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center in Jackson.
   Geared toward producers and ag industry professionals, Cotton Focus is packed with useful information for the upcoming cropping season, in a succinct, half-day format. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and concludes with a complimentary lunch at noon.  There is no cost to attend.
   Cotton Focus will offer presentations on an array of topics including variety performance, weed and pest control, irrigation and much more. Program speakers include:
   • Tyson Raper, cotton specialist, UTIA
   • Darrin Dodds, cotton specialist, Mississippi State University
   • Larry Steckel, row crop weed specialist, UTIA
   • Aaron Smith, crop marketing specialist, UTIA
   • Heather Kelly, field crops pathologist, UTIA
   • Craig Brown, vice president of producer affairs, National Cotton Council
   • Scott Stewart, entomologist, UTIA
   • Mike Buschermohle, precision agriculture specialist, UTIA
   • Gus Lorenz, entomologist, University of Arkansas
   “We share our research findings in a variety of ways,” says Tyson Raper, cotton specialist with the UT Institute of Agriculture, “but being able to hear, learn and interact with researchers and fellow producers in person is a unique opportunity to gain information.”
