Registration Opens For MU Pork Institute

The University of Missouri is taking applications for the 2016 Park Institute, June 13-15 in Columbia.
MU Extension specialists will teach the latest technological developments in pork production to 15 students who want to be leaders in the industry. The event is held annually on the Columbia campus.
“This is a great opportunity for high school students interested in a future in the pork industry to learn as well as network with MU professors and leading pork industry representatives,” said Marcia Shannon, swine specialist with MU Extension.
Topics include biosecurity, business, Ag Electronic Bulletin Board, meat quality evaluation, nutrition, biofilters and more. The group will take tours of MU farms and campus as well as a food processing plant in St. Joseph.
The $100 per student fee covers registration, materials, meals, lodging and field trips. Participants are responsible for travel to and from Columbia.
Applications are due by April 29 and results will be announced May 6.
Missouri Pork Association and the MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources provide financial support for the Pork Institute.
