   Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold steady to $10 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls sold $2 lower. Demand uneven and supply light. Cows made up approximately 24 percent of the run, 76 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 34 percent of the offering, 43 percent heifers with 23 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 25 percent.

   Friday’s sale was a Special Bred Cow/Heifer and Cow-Calf auction with only a light supply of feeders. The main attraction for the bred cow sale was a nice consignment (105 head) of reputation fall bred heifers from the Deer Creek Cattle Co. of Clarksville, Mo. and several nice offerings of young cow/calf pairs. Feeder steers and heifers on a light test weighing under 650 lbs sold mostly steady with comparable sales and quality. A large offering of slaughter cows traded steady to $2 higher on the high dressing cows. Slaughter cows and replacement cows accounted for near 70 percent of the total receipts. The feeder offering was 58 percent steers and bulls, 42 percent heifers and near 20 percent weighing over 600 lbs.
