Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 54 percent.

   Compared to two weeks ago, best test was on steers and heifers weighing 500-700 lbs traded $5-10 higher, with weights over 700 lbs selling with a higher undertone. Demand was good for yearlings over 600 lbs with several loads and part loads selling with good weighing conditions. Slaughter cows sold fully steady with last week. Friday’s Supply and Demand Report forecast a record corn crop of 15.2 bb with an average record yield of 175.1 bpa, up 7.1 bpa from July. Slaughter cows accounted for 10 percent of the total receipts. Feeder supply consisted of 75 percent steers, 25 percent heifers and near 70 percent weighing over 600 lbs.
