Registration Open For Women In Agriculture Event

COLUMBIA, MO.
Registration is now open for the annual Pearls of Production: Women in Agriculture program, Nov. 4-5 in Columbia.
The Woman in Agriculture program offers hands-on training to women in livestock production.
Keynote speaker is Erin Brenneman, contributor to Pork Network. She and her husband operate a pork and grain operation in Washington County, Iowa.
On Saturday, attendees can choose from a variety of hands-on sessions on beef, forages and pasture management, and small ruminants. Sessions cover topics such as bull selection, calving ease, vaccines and scoring body condition. Those interested in forage will hear about weed identification, forage fertilizer, grazing management tools, soil sampling and tall fescue varieties.
Among the presenters are MU Extension specialists Anita Snell, Reagan Bluel, Heather Conrow, Erin Larimore, Amie Schleicher and Valerie Tate. Charlotte Clifford-Rathert of Lincoln University Cooperative Extension and MU Extension’s Kendra Graham give hands-on demonstrations on how to trim small-ruminant hooves and talk about kidding and lambing, parasite management, and herd health.
The event is held at the MU Animal Sciences Research Center. ∆
