   Compared to last week, 400 lbs steers sold $2 higher, the rest of the offering sold steady to $5 lower. Slaughter cows sold $2 lower and bulls sold $3 lower. Supply light. Cows made up approximately 14 percent of the run, 86 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 46 percent of the offering, 34 percent heifers with 16 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 26 percent.

   Compared to last week, a light run of steers and heifer calves traded mostly steady on comparable sales. Several packages and small bunches of unweaned calves all sold with moderate demand as most area farmers are harvesting crops. Slaughter cows traded mostly steady to $3 lower on average to low dressing cows. Hot weather this week also slowed receipts as offering was light. Cattle on Feed Report was released Friday afternoon looking pretty much neutral with trade expectations; August Placements were larger than expected. On feed came in at 101.5 percent, Placements at 115.0 percent. Marketings came in at 117.6 percent. Slaughter cows accounted for near 20 percent of the total receipts Feeder supply consisted of 57 percent steers, 43 percent heifers, and near 48 percent weighing over 600 lbs.

   Well gang it’s that time of year again with warm days and cool nights. Buyers are complaining a lot about sick cattle. With a downward trend anyway if it is not a number 1 quality animal they are very cautious. Today good quality 400-800 lb males $3-10 higher, heifers and lesser quality $4-15 lower.

Cows made up approximately 12 percent of the run, 88 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 31 percent of the offering, 35 percent heifers with 33 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 20 percent.
