   Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold steady to $6 lower except two fancy pot loads of 700 lbs steers and heifers, they sold $2-5 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls sold $2 lower. Supply moderate. Cows made up approximately 17 percent of the run, 83 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 52 percent of the offering, 44 percent heifers with 7 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 34 percent.

   Compared to last week, 500 lbs steers and 400 lbs heifers sold $2-10 lower, the rest of the offering sold steady to $9 higher. Slaughter cows sold $2 lower and bulls sold steady; Demand uneven and supply light. Cows made up approximately 11 percent of the run, 89 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 47 percent of the offering, 34 percent heifers with 19 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 14 percent.

Eastern Missouri Livestock Auction

   Friday’s auction was the first big sale of the fall season with no recent comparison for the last month, with bulk of the receipts weighing 550-850 lbs all selling with a sharply lower undertone. Demand was light to moderate, best on yearlings and longtime weaned calves. There was a nice offering of good quality calves but many were unweaned and traded with light demand. Slaughter cows traded mostly $3-5 lower with instances $7 lower on the better quality cows. Fed cattle market this week fell below the $100 level ranging from $95-99.75 and cattle futures also remain under pressure. Slaughter cows accounted for 6 percent of the total receipts. Feeder cattle consisted of 64 percent steers, 36 percent heifers and near 54 percent weighing over 600 lbs.
