   Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold $1-7 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls sold $2 lower. Demand light and supply moderate. Cows made up approximately 17 percent of the run, 83 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 49 percent of the offering, 32 percent heifers with 18 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 20 percent.

   Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold uneven, from $10 lower to $5 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls sold $1 lower. Supply light. Cows made up approximately 13 percent of the run, 87 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 38 percent of the offering, 40 percent heifers with 22 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 19 percent.

Eastern Missouri Livestock Auction

   Friday’s sale was a Special Bred Cow and Pair sale with a very light offering of feeder cattle. Steer and heifer calves on a very light test traded steady to firm on a few comparable sales. Demand was moderate to good on the bred cows and pairs with a couple nice consignments of young bred cows mostly Charolais cross and several pairs with running ages selling with nice big calves by their sides weighing from 250-400 lbs. Slaughter cows sold mostly $2-5 higher. CME cattle futures posted a strong rally on Thursday and Friday to end the week ahead of the Cattle on Feed Report Cattle released Friday afternoon with October 1st reported at 100 percent; Placements at 98 percent and Marketings at 105 percent with placements being well below estimates, with Marketings and on feed totals coming in slightly under industry and analyst estimates. Slaughter and bred cows accounted for near 67 percent of the total receipts. Feeder cattle supply consisted of 57 percent steers and bulls, 43 percent heifers and 40 percent weighing over 600 lbs.
