   Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold $2.00-8.00 higher with goodquality in the offering.  Slaughter cows sold steady and bulls $2.00 lower; Demand good and supply heavy. Cows made up approximately 13 percent of the run, 87 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 46 percent of the offering, 47 percent heifers with 8 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 48 percent.

   Compared to last week, the best test was on 600-700 lb steers which sold fully steady to $5.00 higher with last week’s light test, with other weights under 500 lbs lightly tested and selling with a steady to firm undertone. Feeder heifers had very light receipts and were not tested.  Bulk of the receipts was steers weighing 500-700 lbs.  Slaughter cows sold steady to $2.00 lower with most decline on the high dressing cows. Demand was good with supply moderate. Fed cattle this week traded mostly steady to $1.00 higher with live sales ranging from $116.00-118.00 which help to give support to the market. Slaughter cows accounted for 18 percent of the total receipts with slaughter steers and heifers accounting for 5 percent of the total receipts. Feeder supply consisted of 87 percent steers and bulls, 13 percent heifers and 55 percent weighing over 600 lbs.

   Market appeared to hold steady. Last week’s light run due to the extreme heat gave way to a little cooler temperature this morning. A better selection and more activity from the buyers seemed to hold the market well today.

Supply light. Cows made up approximately 22 percent of the run, 78 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 25 percent of the offering, 40 percent heifers with 31 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 18 percent.
