UK Wheat Field School To Get Growers Ready To Plant

PRINCETON, KY.
Specialists with the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture Food and Environment are offering a Wheat Field School to help producers prepare for the 2017-2018 growing season.
The field school is from 8:30 a.m. CDT until 3 p.m. Sept. 13 at UK’s Research and Education Center in Princeton. It is the third school UK specialists have offered wheat growers this year.
“We wanted to host these schools to provide experienced producers, crop advisers and farm managers with a series of in-depth educational opportunities to help them improve their operation,” said Edwin Ritchey, UK soil extension specialist.
During the school, participants will learn how to identify and treat challenges in the field that occur prior to planting. Some of the topics UK specialists will discuss include drill calibration, seed bed preparation, seed treatments and weed management.
The school costs $60 and will occur regardless of weather. Lunch is provided. To register for this session, visit
