With New Owners Comes The New Name – SEMO Livestock Sales, LLC

JACKSON, MO.
For over 23 years, Fruitland Livestock Sales in Jackson, Missouri, has served the agricultural community with sales of cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, and even exotic animals. The Preusser family operated with the motto “By Farmers for Farmers”. Steve and Jeff Preusser decided it was time to pass on the business to new owners. With new owners will also come a new name, SEMO Livestock Sales, LLC. Ready to continue the outstanding marketing experience are owners Neal and Michelle Franke, David Jr. and Doris Steinbecker, and Mark and Debbi Steinbecker.  Neal Franke has been the manager and ring man of Fruitland Livestock Sales for 20+ years and will continue these duties for SEMO Livestock Sales. He has a lifetime of farm experience and working with animals. As owner of Mid America Animal Sales, he and Michelle host the sheep and goat sales. Dave Jr. and Mark Steinbecker are third generation livestock dealers and stocker/backrounders. They credit their dad, David Sr., for their success due to his mentoring and leadership. Their operations are located in Perry County and they will also finish cattle in other areas.
SEMO Livestock Sales will begin operations in July. While you may see some new faces around, many of the existing employees will continue to serve you, making the transition as seamless as possible.  “The knowledge and experience of the current employees will be a huge asset to our business,” stated Dave Steinbecker. Due to the holiday, the first sale will be on Tuesday, July 10. There will be a new sale time: 11:00 am. Sale order is usually baby bottle calves, then feeder calves, breeding stock cows/calf pairs, bulls, then all slaughter animals.   Preconditioned groups of feeder calves are sold on the first and third Tuesdays. Consigned breeding stock cows will be on the second Tuesday. Pigs are sold on the fourth Tuesday at 10:00 am and then the regular cattle sale will follow at 11:00 am.
