Water Management Methods Showcased

   The Mississippi County Water Management Field Day was held recently at the Osceola Community Center with a field tour on the farm of Mike Sullivan.
   The free half-day event focused on several irrigation topics aimed at irrigation efficiency and helping farmers utilize irrigation water management tools. A noon meal was provided by RiceTec and Delta Plastics.
   Among the presenters were Ed Swaim, Chief, Water Resources Management Division; Matt Lindsey of Delta Plastics and Brian Ottis of RiceTec. The farm field tour was introduced by Joe Massey, and Ryan and Mike Sullivan showcased “Row Rice and Research on their farm.”
Other speakers included Michele Reba who demonstrated “Field Integrated Measurements of Greenhouse Gas Emissions;” Yin-Lin “Jack” Chiu who showed the use of “Remote Water Depth Monitoring;” Arlene Adviento-Borbe who demonstrated “Measurements of NH3, Greenhouse Gases and Nighttime Temperatures;” Dan Smith spoke about “Closing the Loop with Irrigation Automation;” and RiceTec’s Justin Chalpeka and Jarrod Hardke presented on “Row Rice N Management. A final presentation took place at the noon meal by Josh Hankins of USA Rice. ∆
