Howard County Farm Tour Set For Aug. 29 By MU Extension

FAYETTE, MO.
The 2019 Howard County Farm Tour will be held Thursday, Aug. 29. The free family event is organized by University of Missouri Extension and the 4-H Junior Council. This tour highlights Monnig Industries, an agribusiness in Glasgow.
Tour organizer Heather Conrow urges carpooling. Participants will meet at 5:30 p.m. at Larry’s Triangle, northwest of Fayette where Highway 3 meets Highway 240. The tour of Monnig Industries in Glasgow starts at 6 p.m. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes to enter.
The 4-H Junior Council will hold a wind chime activity for youth during the tour.
Founded by Bob Monnig in 1960, Monnig Industries soon gained a reputation as the premier hot-dip galvanizer in the Midwest. The family now operates four other plants across the region, including Universal Galvanizing.
The tour concludes with a picnic at Kuemmel Park in Glasgow. Meat is prepared by the Howard County Cattlemen’s Association. Participants should bring a side dish to share. Also bring lawn chairs, Conrow says.
The event is free, but participants must enroll ahead by contacting MU Extension in Howard County at 660-248-2272 or HowardCo@missouri.edu. ∆
