Receipts: 2558; Last Week: 602; Year Ago: 1427 Compared to the last special two weeks ago, steer calves under 600 lbs sold with a higher undertone, the best test was on 600-700 lb steers selling $7.00-10.00 higher spots $12.00 higher, with 700-750 lbs trading $3.00-4.00 higher over 750 lbs were not well tested with two weeks ago. Feeder heifers under 550 lbs sold with a higher undertone with 550-650 lbs selling mostly $5.00-7.00 higher, 650-750 lbs sold with a higher undertone on few comparisons. Slaughter cows sold $2.00-5.00 lower. Demand was moderate to good on a moderate to heavy supply. Overall a good quality offering of feeders weighing mostly 550-800 lbs best on steers weighing 500-750 lbs and heifers weighing 500-650 lbs. Supply included: 87 percent Feeder Cattle (54 percent Steers, 43 percent Heifers, 3 percent Bulls); 13 percent Slaughter Cattle (26 percent Steers, 8 percent Heifers, 53 percent Cows, 13 percent Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 65 percent.

Weather conditions did not seem to affect larger groups of preconditioned cattle from coming to market this week as the feeder sale consisted of 90 percent weaned and preconditioned cattle. As a whole, steers and heifers sold $4-13 higher while their value added counterparts saw as much as a $20 increase. Heavy five weight and light six weight cattle will mostly continue to see an increased demand as the grass begins to green for the grazing season. Compared to two weeks ago, steers and heifers sold $4.00-13.00 higher with value added calves selling as much as 20.00 higher with good qualilty in the offering. Slaughter cows sold $4.00 lower and bulls sold $2.00 lower; Demand good and supply moderate to heavy. Supply included: 88 percent Feeder Cattle (60 percent Steers, 38 percent Heifers, 2 percent Bulls); 8 percent Slaughter Cattle (86 percent Cows, 14 percent Bulls); 4 percent Replacement Cattle (88 percent Bred Cows, 12 percent Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 58 percent.
