   Compared to last week's heavy receipts, a very light test of steers calves under 650 lbs sold near steady with steers over 700 lbs trading with a lower undertone on a light test. Feeder heifers weighing 400-500 lbs sold steady with all other weights of heifers lightly tested. Feeders sold in small groups and singles selling with moderate to good demand on a light offering. Slaughter cows sold steady to z$2.00 lower. Supply included: 73 percent Feeder Cattle (44 percent Steers, 40 percent Heifers, 16 percent Bulls); 23 percent Slaughter Cattle (30 percent Steers, 11 percent Heifers, 47 percent Cows, 12 percent Bulls); 5 percent Replacement Cattle (100 percent Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 48 percent.

Even after following a week of exceptional value added cattle, the market was able to remain steady to $5 higher overall on another good test. The seasonal tendency of demand for lightweight grazing calves is well underway as Spring is quickly approaching and the pastures are turning green.
