Tennessee State Rule That Prohibits Use Of Older Dicamba Formulations Is Fast Approaching

JACKSON, TENN.

A deadline that is quickly approaching in Tennessee is the state rule that prohibits the use of older generic formulations of dicamba in soybean or cotton from May 15 to October 1. The dicamba formulations prohibited in this time frame include Banvel, Clarity, Sterling Blue, Strut, etc.  This rule is designed to stop the use of the older, more volatile dicamba formulations later in the growing season. Rather, after May 15 the only dicamba formulations that can be used as burndown are Engenia, Tavium and XtendiMax. Also, of course, these lower volatile formulations are still legal to use PRE and POST in Xtend soybean and cotton varieties.

Several have stated that they can not find this on the labels.  That is correct.  It can only be found at the Tennessee Department of Agriculture’s Dicamba Application Reference List. Just as a reminder some of the best management practices (BMPs) for dicamba stewardship can be found here and also in the 2021 Tennessee Weed Control Manual. ∆
