Dixon Springs Ag Center To Host Beef Field Day

   Illinois Extension and the Department of Animal Sciences are pleased to announce the upcoming Beef Field Day at the University of Illinois Dixon Springs Agricultural Center (DSAC) on Tuesday, August 3. The field day covers current research that impacts cow/calf producers and provides an update on the ongoing research at DSAC. 2021 Topics include:

   • Dr. Yvette Johnson-Walker (UI Veterinary Medicine) will present preliminary data collected at DSAC on the effect(s) invasive plants have on tick populations.

   • Dr. Joshua McCann (Department of Animal Sciences) will discuss injectable vitamins and shipping stress and provide an overview of the I-Belief program with an introduction of the current fellows and their research.

   • Dr. Dan Shike (Department of Animal Sciences) will utilize DSAC heifers to discuss replacement heifer selection and provide an update on beef research at DSAC.

   • Kylie Ewing (graduate student, Department of Animal Sciences) will discuss grazing management strategies.

   The program will start promptly at 5:15p.m. and concludes with a complimentary dinner prepared by the Shawnee Beef Association. There is no charge to attend the Beef Field Day; however, for an accurate food count please pre-register by Thursday, July 29.
