Geothermal Energy Systems Capture The Power Of The Sun

URBANA, ILLINOIS

Solar energy is not limited to solar panels. Geothermal energy represents another method of using solar energy to heat water and buildings and to generate electricity.

As the sun heats the earth’s surface, geothermal systems harvest this energy in a clean, efficient, and cost-effective method. Jay Solomon, University of Illinois Extension educator, will lead a free online webinar on this emerging renewable energy.

The webinar begins at 1 p.m. May 12. Register in advance at go.illinois.edu/EverydayEnvironment. Make requests for reasonable accommodation to Erin Garrett at emedvecz@illinois.edu as early as possible to meet access needs.

This webinar is part of Extension's Everyday Environment series. These webinars provide new information on natural resources, inspiring small changes in daily lifestyle choices that have a positive impact on the environment.

"There is never a shortage of new things to learn about your everyday environment," says Garrett. ∆
