The LSU AgCenter is sponsoring two field days for beef and forage producers that will include Master Farmer program updates in Alexandria and Bossier City.

AgCenter beef specialist Ashely Edwards said the April 21 field day will be held at the State Evacuation Shelter in Alexandria from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the April 28 program will begin at 2 p.m. at the Red River Research Station in Bossier City.

Both programs will feature presentations including the cattle market update and outlook, navigating rising input costs, forage options and recordkeeping, Edwards said.

Donna Gentry, coordinator of the Louisiana Master Farmer program, said both field days will count toward Phase 2 credit for the Master Farmer program. Phase 1 training will be offered beginning at 8:30 a.m. on April 21.

Continuing education credit also will be offered for certified Master Farmers and veterinarians, Gentry said.

Pre-registration is required for both field days, as lunch will be served in Bossier City and dinner in Alexandria.

To register for the Alexandria field day, RSVP by April 15 by contacting Gaye Richard at grichard@agcenter.lsu.edu or 318-473-6520.

Registration for the Bossier City field can be completed by contacting Donna Haynes at the Red River Research Station by April 21 at 318-741-7430 ext. 0 or dhaynes@agcenter.lsu.edu.
